Casa 1883 | Cevide Marco Nº1 | Where Portugal begins

Description

Casa 1883 is located in Portugal's northernmost village, Cevide, where Kilometre Marker No. 1 marks “Where Portugal Begins”!

Just a five-minute walk from the Minho and Trancoso rivers, which separate Portugal and Spain, the house enjoys a unique location, marked by the tranquillity of the landscape and the historical proximity between the two countries.

Built in the 16th century and renovated over time, Casa 1883 preserves the original character of the region without sacrificing modern comforts.

It has four cosy bedrooms, two bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen, ready to welcome those who love to cook and spend time together. Outside, the barbecue and outdoor dining table invite you to relax, surrounded by the silence and greenery of the village.

In the past, Cevide was an autonomous and independent village inhabited by monks. Even today, you can still admire the old chapel below the farm, a living testimony to the religious community that once thrived there. Its geographical position made Cevide a strategic point for passage between Portugal and Spain, including for the smuggling routes that marked the local past.

Casa 1883 is thus an encounter between history, nature and authenticity - a refuge where the past can be felt and the present can be lived with serenity!
